It’s winter solstice. The sun is indeed still, and we can take a moment.
I journalled this morning, thinking about a Word of the Year. As the light turns, what am I leaving to 2022? What seeds am I carrying to 2023?
I scribbled down thoughts and I’m going to put them here because I’m more likely to look at them again here than I am to look at my old journals. Strange, but true. So off the top of my head…
Creativity & Expression
Something that isn’t words. Still words, always, but something else too. Something beautiful.
Devotion & Discipline
In the care for my physical and emotional wellbeing.
Intention & Discernment
For my soul, for my attention, and for my relationships with everyone and everything.
Courage & Hope
In the face of a difficult human world and the harm we’re doing to all the non-humans.
Forgiveness & Compassion
For the past. Mine and others’.
Freedom & Rebellion
Practised with love and maturity.
Love & Happiness
Because it’s a favourite song of mine they are the basis of all good things.
If these make the shortlist, which is The One?
Honestly, in the face of the challenges we face from the PTBs (the Powers That Be, for those of you unfortunate enough not to have watched Angel. That’s them up there.), modern life, planetary ecological issues, what feels like the imminent collapse of our society…Rebellion feels good.
I’m going to try that on and wear it for a few days. See how it fits. Is there an opening for Chooser’s Remorse, as there was with 2022’s Extraordinary? Probably. But I’m liking the sense that it fits with my desire to shrug off my conditioning, my old stories, my shoulds and ought tos, and the stereotypes still imposed on older women, even by ourselves.
Yes. Rebellion.
Love Rebellion! I chose Grace as I approach my 65th bday in 23, I feel a need to extend more grace to myself and as a consequence to others. The grace that is extended to me from the divine feminine, Our Mother.
Love it! Rebellion is in the air and I can't wait to see where this takes you. My word this year was Devotion but I feel like I fell short of it. I need like a monthly reminder of my word throughout the year 😉
